I recently starting following this tutorial and you did mention that I didn’t need programming experience. I am curious how to build the scene, how to add buildings and streets, etc. Is there another video you have made that goes into this at all? I have looked and subscribed to your youtube channel, but didn’t see anything there.

Noob here, thank you for a response.

Based on the reference information provided, I can partially answer this query:

The reference information mentions using several asset packs for scene building, specifically:

    • Medieval Interior Asset Pack by SOI
    • Village Asset Pack by Styloo
    • 700+ Pixel Art Texture – 256×256 by FlakDeu
    • Furniture Kit by Kenney

These assets were used to add visual details to scenes like the Inn and Town Square. The tutorial describes adding location entry points, baked lighting, and navmesh to scenes.

However, the specific details about scene construction are not fully elaborated in the given reference information.

Can you clarify which specific part of scene building you’re most interested in – asset placement, terrain creation, or something else?

I am interested in both asset placement and terrain creation, if maybe there is a video out there you can suggest to get me started.

While I can’t provide specific video links, I can guide you on how to get started with asset placement and terrain creation.

    1. Asset Placement:

      • Look for tutorials on how to import and use asset packs in your game engine (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
      • Search for videos that cover the basics of the interface for your chosen engine, focusing on how to drag and drop assets into your scene.
      • Check out tutorials on creating prefabs (in Unity) or blueprints (in Unreal) which can help streamline your asset placement.
    2. Terrain Creation:

      • Most game engines have built-in terrain tools. Look for tutorials specifically on terrain generation in Unity or Unreal.
      • Learn about terrain sculpting, texturing, and adding vegetation. Videos that cover these topics will help you create a natural landscape.
      • Explore tutorials on using heightmaps to create realistic terrains.
    3. YouTube Channels:

      • For Unity: Look for channels like Brackeys (although less active now, they have great foundational videos), or GameDev.tv.
      • For Unreal Engine: Check out channels like Unreal Engine’s official channel or Virtus Learning Hub.
    4. Forums and Communities:

      • Join communities on Reddit or Discord related to game development where you can ask for recommendations and get feedback on your progress.

These resources should help you get started on both asset placement and terrain creation. Happy developing!

Hi @redbarnacles, this video may be helpful for you as it goes through the basics of the Unity interface, including how to manipulate objects in your Scene to build them.

Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to konw after watching this. I’ll be happy to make another video for you.
